Fear vs Faith

A few years back when God was calling me to bigger and better-than-the-old-me things, I discovered this image in my mind. With so many things and at so many times I find myself sitting back on my haunches waiting on change to just happen, or even more, waiting for God to do the work for me. God gives us a plethora of Newness out of the goodness of His heart, the Grace He gives so freely. But as we grow, as He calls us to meat over milk, I’ve discovered our own participation is more often required. This is where I get hung-up. What if I can’t? What if I fail? What if I’m not good enough? What if I let Him down? But God says just take that first step. C’mon, you can do it. And if you falter I’m right here to set you upright to try again. Together we’ve got this.

So do not fear, for I am with you; do not be dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you and help you; I will uphold you with my righteous right hand. (Isaiah 41:10)
